The Hubtones are a new and exciting ensemble that dig heavily into the iconic repertoire of the classic Blue Note recordings that the world has come to relate to cool and hip jazz. Made up of some of Melbournes most exciting and forward thinking Jazz musicians, the Hubtones take the tradition of classic Blue Note tunes and rocket them into the 21st century adding their own modern twist and flair to these timeless gems.

The Hubtones are a sextet and include Vince Hopkins on Guitar, Adam Donaldson on Drums, Daimon Brunton on Trumpet, Will Larsen on Saxophone, James Ball on Piano and David Galea on Bass. The Hubtones take classic Blue Note tunes from artists like Grant Green, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, and Horace Silver.

The Hubtones mantra is to pay homage to the brilliance and creativity of these Blue Note artists, emulating the heavy swing and beautiful harmony of this era and cross pollinating it with the modern jazz sound more prevalent in the current Jazz movement. The result is an infectious sound that will not only get feet tapping and heads moving but will also expose a younger audience to the gold mine of expression and creativity that the Blue Note label is known for.
